He Removed Offensive Features

King Ahaz was in a pickle. The king of Aram and the king of Israel held a siege around Jerusalem. Ahaz robbed the treasuries of the palace and The Temple to bribe the king of Assyria. All he wanted was peace.

2 Kings 16:18, “Finally, he removed any distinctive features from within The Temple that were offensive to the king of Assyria.” The Message

2 Corinthians 10:4-6, “The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. [5] We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barricades erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. [6] Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.” The Message

Reassure the Righteous

The verses God showed me did not make sense – until I went to church. We had an old-fashioned prayer meeting, just like the ones of my youth. I could picture my Grandma W. kneeling at the chair beside me. I remember her pouring her heart out to God.

We prayed verses right out of the Bible. First for “Nations and Continents” – 1 Timothy 2:1-2; Proverbs 2:10-15; Psalms 68:11; Luke 10-12.

Isaiah 3:4, “He says, ‘I’ll put little kids in charge of the city. Schoolboys and schoolgirls will order everyone around.’ ” The Message

Second, we prayed for “Unity and Harmony” – 1 John 5:14-15; 1 Corinthians 1:10; Matthew 6:10; 18:19; Ephesians 4:2-3; 1 Peter 3:8-9; John 17:22-23.

Isaiah 3:12, “Skinny kids terrorize my people. Silly girls bully them around. My dear people! Your leaders are taking you down a blind alley. They’re sending you off on a wild-goose chase.” The Message

Finally, we prayed for “The People of Our Land” – Luke 21:11, 25-26; Matthew 5:5; 16:3; 26:41; James 4:10; 5:16; 1 Peter 3:4; Psalms 139:23; Isaiah 6:6-7; 1 Timothy 2:1; John 7:38; Revelations 22:1-2.

Isaiah 3:10, “Reassure the righteous that their good living will pay off.” The Message
