February 11, 2019: 1 Chronicles 12, 14; Psalms 133; 2 Samuel 6; 1 Chronicles 13
I decided to share my great discovery from “Battlefield of the Mind” with David. (I think I got ahead of God.)
2 Samuel 5:24, “When you hear the sound of shuffling in the trees, get ready to move out. It’s a signal that God is going ahead of you…” The Message
I got out the paper with the negative version of the event. I started reading it to David and he stopped me.
“I see where this is going and I don’t care…”
I didn’t let him finish. I wadded up the piece of paper and threw it away. Now, I wonder what the rest of that sentence was?
I don’t care…
- to talk about this now?
- to fight?
- to rehash an event that was painful for you?
- to read about this in a blog post?
Pastor Monte Knudsen’s sermon series this month is “Love Like You Mean It.” He shared about a couple he counseled.
The man was living with his wife part-time and a mistress on the other days. He advised the wife to cook his favorite meal and dress up the next time he came home.
I didn’t like this story! The man was being a jerk! But, her actions saved their marriage.
Then Pastor challenged us to show love to someone who is hard to love. You know – that difficult coworker, or your grouchy neighbor.
I went back to my office. I never thought the hard-to-love person would be my husband. I felt like he was being a jerk!
God nudged me, “Feed him.”
That was the last thing I wanted to hear. But I obeyed and made him pancakes. Sigh.

God worked on my heart all day. He was working on David’s heart, too, because he offered to pick up dinner. I was up to my ears preparing for our tax appointment. He couldn’t have picked a better day.
2 Samuel 12:18, “…All is well, yes, all is well with you, …Yes, for your God has helped and does help you.” The Message
All is well.
