March 20, 2019: Ecclesiastes 2-5.

There was a spinach dip in a bread bowl and zucchini bread! That counted as 2 servings of vegetables, right? (I opted for crackers over the bread.) Then I resisted the red velvet cupcake and settled for a mini chocolate one. And that sugar cookie was fat-free, so it didn’t count.

The chocolate chip bars I took seemed boring compared to the rest of the offerings.  Little Smokies, meat, crackers, cheese, cakes, and lemonade to wash it down.

The last class of “Financial Peace University” was a party. We each shared one thing that changed from taking the class. I shared that we started to dream again. We are working as a team to meet our financial goals.

I realized handling money can either bring a couple closer together or drive them apart. You can’t do the homework without communication and teamwork. You have to go in the same direction.

Ecclesiastes 2:13, 14, “But I did see that it’s better to be smart than stupid, just as light is better than darkness. (14) Even so, though the smart ones see where they’re going and the stupid ones grope in the dark, they’re all the same in the end. One fate for all – and that’s it.” The Message

I’m grateful our church hosted this class. They even scheduled a follow-up meeting to make sure we stay on track.

Ecclesiastes 5:1, “Watch your step when you enter God’s house. Enter to learn. That’s far better than mindlessly offering a sacrifice. Doing more harm than good.” The Message

It’s about:

• Being good stewards with our finances.
• Making the most of every opportunity.
• Working to live, not living to work.
• Finding fulfillment in serving and giving.
• Living like no one else now, so later we can live and give like no one else!

Ecclesiastes 5:18, 19, “After looking at the way things are on this earth, here’s what I’ve decided is the best way to live: Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives life. And that’s about it. The human lot. (19) Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what’s given and delighting in the work. It’s God’s gift.” The Message
