God Takes the Time to Do Everything Right

May 1, 2019: Isaiah 30-32, 36.

I woke up at 3:45 a.m. worrying about the laundry room. It’s been raining for several days. There is a crack somewhere and the water runs in front of the washer and dryer to the drain. I straddled that water while I washed clothes. I want it fixed – yesterday!

Isaiah 30:18, “But God’s not finished. He’s waiting around to be gracious to you. He’s gathering strength to show mercy to you. God takes the time to do everything right – everything. Those who wait around for Him are the lucky ones.” The Message

Since I couldn’t sleep, I cried out to the One who could help!

Isaiah 30:19, “…Cry for help and you’ll find grace and more grace. The moment He hears, He’ll answer.” The Message

The subject of our study at Connect Group was, “What to Do When Your Prayers Seem Unanswered.” I know God answered right away. Now I wait to see it. He’s always right and always on time.

Isaiah 32:17-20, “And where there’s Right, there’ll be peace and the Progeny of Right: quiet lives and endless trust. (18) My people will live in a peaceful neighborhood – in safe houses, in quiet gardens. (19) The forest of your pride will be clear-cut, the city showing off your power leveled. (20) But you will enjoy a blessed life, planting well-watered fields and gardens, with your farm animals grazing freely.” The Message

My People…Work of My Hands…My Heritage

April 30, 2019: Isaiah 11-12, 18-20, 15-16.

Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red, brown, yellow
Black and white
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus loves the little children
Of the world.
Jesus died for all the children
All the children of the world
Red, brown, yellow
Black and white
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus died for all the children
Of the world.
Jesus rose for all the children
All the children of the world
Red, brown, yellow
Black and white
They are precious in His sight.
Jesus rose for all the children
Of the world.

Isaiah 19:25, “God-of-the-Angel-Armies, who blessed Israel, will generously bless them all: ‘Blessed be Egypt, My people!…Blessed be Assyria, work of My hands!…Blessed be Israel, My heritage!’ ” The Message

We are all God’s children.

He Doesn’t Scrimp with His Traveling Companions

April 29, 2019: 2 Kings 18; Psalms 84; Isaiah 10.

I spent the day with Mom. She needed to review her insurance and wanted another set of ears. There is so much information. My sister accompanied her before and it was my turn.

After taking the Dave Ramsey class, I wanted to be sure she was protected. The insurance agent gave his recommendations. On the way home, I shared Dave Ramsey‘s recommendations. We discussed her options.

She wanted to buy me lunch and we headed to Bubba Q’s. We started with a salad the size I normally eat as a meal! Then came the three ribs, macaroni and cheese, and Texas Toast. I ate 1 rib, a couple bites of mac and cheese, and the toast. I took the rest home and ate it for another meal. Mom sure didn’t scrimp on lunch!

Psalms 84:11-12, “All sunshine and sovereign is God, generous in gifts and glory. (12) He doesn’t scrimp with His traveling companions. It’s smooth sailing all the way with God-of-the-Angel-Armies.” The Message

From The Inside and Worked Out

April 28, 2019: 2 Chronicles 29-31.

We had a lot of visitors for Easter Sunday. I planned on inviting others to come this week. But I failed.

2 Chronicles 30:1, “Then Hezekiah invited all of Israel…” The Message

2 Chronicles 30 showed me why I’m afraid to invite others…

  • People poked fun at them, v. 10.
  • They treated them as a joke, v. 10.

…and why they do not accept the invitation.

  • They were too proud, v. 11.
  • They weren’t ready, v. 15.
  • They were embarrassed in their laziness, v. 15.
  • They had not properly prepared themselves, v. 17.

God is working on all of us from the inside out – just like the priests cleaning the Temple.

2 Chronicles 29:16, “The priests started from the inside and worked out; they emptied the place of the accumulation of defiling junk – pagan rubbish that had no business in that holy place – and the Levites hauled it off to the Kidron Valley.” The Message

We don’t have to be perfect to come to church. The Bible says we are washed with the water of the Word, see Ephesians 5:26. Each time we come, God removes some of the rubbish in our lives that is holding us back.

Ariel, The City

April 27, 2019: Psalms 80; Isaiah 28, 29.

I read the first verse and wondered, “What city is Ariel?” Luckily, the answer came in the next verse.

Isaiah 29:1, 2, “Doom, Ariel, Ariel, the city where David set camp! Let the years add up, let the festivals run their cycles. (2) But I’m not letting up on Jerusalem. The moaning and groaning will continue. Jerusalem to me is an Ariel.” The Message

What’s an Ariel?

“The relationship between the Ariel of Isaiah 29 and Ezekiel 43 suggests the nature of the woe that would strike Jerusalem, as HAW Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament attests, ‘Israel shall become, under the judgment of God, an Ariel, an altar hearth, that is, the scene of a holocaust.’ ” abarim-publications.com

This is exactly what happened when Jerusalem fell.
