Be Like Those Who Stay the Course

June 16, 2019: Hebrews 5-8.

I woke up thinking, “hot,” “light,” and “eyes.” The air conditioner was off. Even though it was only 5:00 a.m., there was light seeping between the curtain and the wall. My eyes were gritty and mattered.

I did a salt rinse on my eyes and used Patanol. When I could see clearly, I noticed my hair was dry and frizzy. I dumped olive oil on the ends in frustration. Then I washed and conditioned it.

Crawling back into bed was mighty tempting but it was time to leave for church.

Hebrews 6:12, “Don’t drag your feet. Be like those who stay the course with committed faith and then get everything promised to them.” The Message

We were setting up when we got the message the bass player couldn’t make it. The synth player was scheduled in the nursery.

It’s a good thing I didn’t crawl back in bed! It would have been a drum solo!

Your Rule Makes Everything Right

June 15, 2019: Hebrews 1-4.

April 27, 2019 – I’m happy. I bought 3 pair of smaller Capri shorts today!

May 24, 2019 – It finally warmed up enough to wear my new Capri shorts! I rotated them with the 2 other pair in my closet.

June 11, 2019 – My new Capri shorts are pilling! I’ve only worn them a few times. They should at least last through the summer!

Today I took the Capri shorts and receipt back to the store. I showed the flawed material to the clerk. The lady huffed and said she would have to check with the manager.

After a few minutes, the manager came. She looked them over and grudgingly agreed to refund my money.

Hebrews 1:8, “But He says to the Son, ‘You’re God, and on the throne for good; Your rule makes everything right.'” The Message

Next, we went to the “Stuff” consignment store. I found a new pair of Capri shorts, 1 used pair, my favorite jeans, a coffee mug, lantern, and David bought 3 shirts. With my coupon and the money owed us, we spent $2 less than the refund from the other store! Jesus takes care of us.

Hebrews 3:2, “He’s the centerpiece of everything God gave Him to do….” The Message

Am I faithful in everything God gave me to do?

Hebrews 4:1, “For as long, then, as that promise of resting in Him pulls us on to God’s goal for us, we need to be careful that we’re not disqualified.” The Message
