They Rallied Around

I was talking with a friend yesterday. She shared that she started reading her Bible morning and night. She went to her church filled with God’s Word.

But someone said something that didn’t feel right. She got up and went to the farthest corner of the building. It really upset her.

I told her there are disagreements in every church. What they said could have been for someone else. God uses imperfect people and the speaker could be wrong. The word could be for a later date.

I don’t know. She didn’t share specifics. But I do know everything has to agree with the Bible.

We need to be careful to follow Jesus, not rally around a human. As we read today, humans may lead us the wrong way!

Jeremiah 41:13-14, “They were so happy. (14) They rallied around Johanan son of Kareah and headed back home.” The Message

A Circle of Quiet

It was a quiet day. Just my normal morning activities. I spent the afternoon dealing with fresh vegetables.

I hung the green onions in the garage to dry. I froze some of the red onions. I added a few to the cucumber salad I made.

I made salsa and Pico de Gallo to use up the Roma tomatoes. Then, I cooked the beets and carrots for dinner.

David grilled pork chops. I put Pico de Gallo on mine. The jalapenos made my nose run and that broke the sinus headache.

I was in a circle of quiet.

Psalms 94:12-13, “How blessed the man you train, God, the woman you instruct in your Word, (13) providing a circle of quiet within the clamor of evil…” The Message

August 17, 2019: Lamentations 4, 5; Psalms 79, 94; Jeremiah 40.
