Matthew 19, 20

Matthew 19:29, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or farms for My name’s sake, will receive many times as much, and will inherit eternal life.”

I have not given up much!

Matthew 19:30, “But many who are first will be last; and the last, first.”

Missionaries and evangelists will receive the greatest rewards.

Matthew 20:12, “Saying, ‘These last men have worked only an hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the scorching heat of the day.'”

Those who believe Jesus died for them while on their deathbed receive the same gift of salvation as those who believed as a child.

Matthew 20:16, “So the last shall be first, and the first last.”

New American Standard Bible

Others sacrificed more than me and I worked longer than others. My reward is based on my intentions and motives as I worked. I must be careful to keep the right attitude – the attitude of a servant. Other servants work harder and longer. And some servants carry lighter loads for shorter distances. My job is to do the work assigned to me with a cheerful heart to please my master, Jesus.

Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I did the right thing with the wrong attitude. Amen.

1 Corinthians 3:12-13, “Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13) each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work.”
