An Empty Wasteland

Ezekiel 15:8, “I will make their country an empty wasteland, because they have not been loyal to me. I, the Lord God, have spoken.”

Israel was considered uninhabitable when the Jews started returning. But they turned it around and now everyone wants it!

“What Bible verse said that Israel would become a nation?”

Bible passage: Amos 9:11, 13

Written: about 750 BC

Fulfilled: late 1900s

In Amos 9:11, 13, the prophet said that God would restore the land of David. (King David ruled Israel from about 1010 BC to about 970 BC). The land of David – Israel – was conquered and destroyed by the Babylonians, Assyrians and Romans. The land has been in ruins for much of the past 2000 years. The Jews, who had been scattered throughout the world, began to return in large numbers during the past 100 years. Since then, they have been rebuilding many of Israel’s ancient cities. Amos also said there would be continuous planting and harvesting. During the past 100 years, the Jews have been using advanced farming and irrigation techniques to turn barren land into productive farmland. Today, Israel is a source of food for many countries.

No History, No Understanding

Ezekiel is a book of prophecy that was confirmed by events later in history.

Ezekiel 12:13, “The Lord will spread out a net and trap him as he leaves Jerusalem. He will than be led away to the city of Babylon, but will never see that place, even though he will die there.”

“He will then be led away…that place: According to 2 Kings 25:6, 7, King Zedekiah of Judah was blinded before he was taken to Babylon.” CEV Bible Notes

Last night, Pastor Monte Knudsen spoke of the prophecies in Ezekiel 38, 39. He explained which country was represented by each of the names in the Bible.

But to truly understand what is happening in Israel today, you have to know your history.

Reading the original document tells a different story than we hear on the news. The Bible is the oldest document and its facts, dates, history, and geography can be confirmed today.

Suddenly Something Fell From His Eyes

At the Faith Conference last night, Charles Barclay declared that we are in the beginning moments of a Spiritual Awakening…“Christians are waking up. Blatant sinners are waking up; their eyes are being opened. They are no longer in a stupor. Prodigals will wake up.”

How do they “Wake up?”

Acts 9:18, “Suddenly something like fish scales fell from Saul’s eyes and he could see…”

Famine Predicted

Isaiah 18:5, 6, “Before the blossoms can turn to grapes, God will cut off the sprouts and hack off the branches. Ethiopians will be food for the mountain buzzards during the summer and for wild animals during the winter.”

“Ethiopia: The Hebrew text has ‘Cush,’ which was a region south of Egypt that included parts of the present countries of Ethiopia and Sudan.” CEV Bible Notes

Sadly, we have seen famine in Ethiopia and Sudan many times.

Babysteps – Day 466

The Bible is full of prophecy. God repeatedly told his prophets what He was going to do, sometimes centuries before it happened!

Ezekiel 26:4, “And they shall destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers; I will also scrape her dust from her and make her bare like the top of a rock.”

Amplified Bible Notes: “To prevent Nebuchadnezzar from getting her valuables, Tyre transported herself to an island a half mile out in the sea. The conqueror destroyed the city on the mainland and left. But more than two centuries later, Alexander the Great took the ruins of the old city, even scraping up the dust, and made a causeway to the island, thus fulfilling the prophecy exactly.”

Nebuchadnezzar and Nebuchadrezzar were the same man according to the notes on Jeremiah 21:2.

God’s word is true and at some point everything will be fulfilled.
